Rogério Ribeiro

Rogério Ribeiro (1930 – 2008) was born in Estremoz, Portugal. He studied at the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon, where he later lectured. He was a painter, draftsman, engraver, designer, author of ceramic panels and tapestry cartons. He founded the Cooperative Society of Portuguese Engravers (Gravura). He was also the author of projects for the House Manuel Ribeiro de Pavia (1985) and the Fortress of Peniche (1987). He was the director of Casa da Cerca  - Contemporary Art Centre, in Almada, since 1993. He began collaborating with Portalegre’s Tapestry in 1961.
