Emília Nadal
Emília Nadal was born in Lisbon. She graduated from fine Art University in Lisbon. Gulbenkian Foundation granted her a scholarship to develop the project entitled “packaging for imaginary products” She received the Anunciação and Lupi awards from the Fine Arts National Academy in Lisbon and the XVI Joan Miró Drawing Award in Barcelona, as well as other printing edition awards. Her work includes painting, drawing, printing, vídeo performance and “imaginary products”. She created several sceneries and wardrobes for the Gulbenkian Ballet, D. Maria II National Theatre and ACARTE. The Murals from John Paul II library at Oporto Catholic University as well as the liturgical space at the Faro Cathedral are her creations. From 1973 on she had several solo exhibitions in galleries and cultural institutions in Lisbon, Oporto, Madrid, Paris, Coimbra, Vila Real, Évora, Silves, Funchal, Macau, Angra do Heroísmo, Ponta Delgada, Lamego and Cascais. She participated in numerous group exhibitions in drawing, painting and printing, in Portugal and abroad. Among these we can point out the “25th Anniversary of Serralves Foundation”, 2009 in Oporto, “The Seventies – Crossing Borders”, CAM – Gulbenkian Foundation, 2010 in Lisbon, “Everything that is solid melts in the air: The Social at Berardo Collection”, CCB, 2010 in Lisbon, “One Text - One Work – A Tribute to Fernando de Azevedo”, Fine Arts National Society, 2012 in Lisbon She is present in several art collections namely Modern Art Centre (CAM) – Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon; Modern Art Museum – Serralves Foundation, Oporto; Modern Art Museum – Berardo Collection, Lisbon; Contemporary Art Gallery, Funchal; Municipal Museum, Tomar; Contemporary Art Centre – José Augusto França Donation; National Theatre Museum, Lisbon; Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Millennium bcp Bank.
