Portalegre Tapestry at Versailles

"Vitrail", a Portalegre Tapestry by Joana Vasconcelos, can be seen at Versailles Palace until the end of September.

The tapestry "Vitrail" was manufactured by Portalegre Tapestry Manufacture on purpose to be shown at Joana Vasconcelos exhibition at Versailles Palace. It can be seen filling up one of the archways in the Queen’s Staircase until the end of September. With an original drawing by Joana Vasconcelos, the 13 sq meter tapestry suggesting a stained glass window, took seven months to be manufactured. The making of the tapestry involved 13 persons and used 33 kilos of wool of 28 different colours.
