Eduardo Nery

Eduardo Nery (1938 – ) was born in Figueira da Foz and died the 2th of MArs 2013. He attended the Institute of Fine Arts of Lisbon. Nery is an abstract painter with a geometric inclination, who was influenced by Constructivism, Cubism, and Dadaism. He studied tapestry with Jean Lurçat, in France. He is the author of many tapestry cartoons, mural paintings, and ceramic panels. From the exhibitions where he has been represented, it is worth mention the II, III, and IV Tapestry Biennial of Lausanne. He is represented in several public and private collections, such as the Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves House Museum, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Houses of Fronteira e Alorna Foundation, the Manuel de Brito Foundation, and the Núcleo de Arte Contemporâneo José Augusto-França. One of his tapestries, “Estrutura Ambígua”, was recently donated to the Portalegre’s tapestry Museum – Guy Fino. He began his collaboration with Portalegre’s tapestry in 1961.
