José Sousa Lara

José Sousa Lara (1955 – ) was born in Lisbon. He studied in New York at the School of Visual Arts. He dedicated his life to painting, ceramic photography, sculpture in public spaces, and azulejo. Sousa Lara also works as an illustrator of literary publications and produces portraits for private collections. He produced two monuments for the city of Beja, and has his work represented at the underground station Intendente, in Lisbon. He held an exhibition in New York with João Cutileiro, and in the National Society of Fine Arts, in Lisbon. He began collaborating with Portalegre’s Tapestry in 2003.
