John Olsen
John Olsen (1928 – ) was born in Newcastle, Australia. He studied at the Datilo Rubbo Art School and at the Julian Art School. His first individual exhibition was held in 1955, in Sydney. In 1957, Olsen moved to England to paint. He lived in London and Portugal between 1965 and 1967, before returning to Australia. His home country granted him the inspiration to produce his landspace works. In 1968 founded the Bakery Art School. One of his most famous murals is held at the Sydney Opera House. This artist his best known for his mural and watercolour works. His collaboration with the Portalegre’s Tapestry began in 1964.
